Interactive software engineering education: learn by building by pair programing with the instructor, submit challenges to an AI judge and get feedback.codealong.devJoined November 2025
🚀 Git Branches are now live on Codealong
Your code changes are automatically saved as you work. No manual commits, no worrying about losing progress.
Jump back into any branch, pick up where you left off tomorrow, or clone it to continue on your machine.
Fully interactive PostgreSQL in the browser coming soon to @codealongdev
Soon, you'll be able to learn in an environment running a full API connected to a database, right inside a lesson. Fully interactive, event-driven, and less than 1 MB in your browser.
If you’re learning Go or looking for a place to learn it, check out @codealongdev.
A friend of mine, @tiago_taquelim_, built it, and I’ve had the chance to use it myself.
What I really like is that you’re not just watching a video and then trying to recreate everything on your own. The lesson and the coding environment are right there in your browser. You can pause the lesson, take over the editor, change the code, run it, and then continue.
The courses are also built around actual projects. You can start by building an HTTP router and then work your way up to building your own Redis, learning things like goroutines, channels, mutexes, and pointers along the way.
There’s AI feedback when you get stuck too, but it nudges you toward the solution instead of just giving you the answer.
It’s currently focused on Go, and I think it’s a really interesting way to learn the language.
Today we're proud to introduce Codealong to the world, if you're looking to learn backend engineering in a new interactive experience go check it out youtu.be/Z0urzYUj_q4
Learning from codealong.dev for a while now (before public release I think), Here you can pair program with teacher, code, draw, note on the same place. This interaction is what separates @codealongdev from another online course, that you give up on after sometime.
Happy to announce the public release of codealong.dev
A new video experience where you pair program with instructor.
Enjoy the fully interactive Backend Engineer Path airing right now.
Code + Canvas, finally together.
The CodeAlong whiteboard is live: draw, diagram, and annotate right inside your lessons — fully recordable, fully replayable.
Stay tuned.
The shift from passive learning to actionable learning in an age of short-form content and declining attention spans is increasingly important.
I'm really happy with the results the CodeAlong project has been getting during our internal tests at SelfMadeEngineer.com
Honestly, software developers are getting dumber because of AI.
Don't get me wrong—it's a powerful tool, but it's making it harder to hire good engineers.
Use this to your advantage: understand the fundamentals and how to solve problems, and I promise you'll win next year.
