@Grouse_Beater Seems axiomatic that the Chief Constable of Police Scotland should be from within Police Scotland and not be resident outwith Scotland. Maybe it's just me?

Twice we've passed 45,700 followers in the last two weeks and twice we've dropped back to around 45,670 within a day. Let's see if this is third time lucky and it holds.

Thread 1-14 When we use the term 'BBC Scotland' we aren't referring to the whole organisation, we're referring to the BBC Scotland News & Current Affairs Dept. For brevity in this thread we will use 'BBC Scotland'. BBC Scotland produces neither news nor covers current affairs.

2-14 It used to, but that ceased sometime after 2011. From that point it became a full-blown defender of the British establishment. BBC Scotland is a political entity. It has to be. Why? Because it's a branch of the BBC which is the British establishment's state broadcaster.

3-14 The BBC's job is to maintain the British establishment status quo. To avoid radical change. Corbyn threatened radical change. The BBC ensured he failed. Starmer doesn't. BBC Scotland is not Scottish. It employs Scots in the same way USA company Amazon employs Scots.

4-14 The USA HQ makes the rules and calls the shots. London HQ makes the rules for BBC Scotland and calls the shots. BBC Scotland is a branch of the London BBC. It is, to all intents and purposes, English.

8-14 When you watch or listen to BBC Scotland news the anti-SNP & anti-Independence messaging is always there. Reporters will rarely say 'The Union'. They'll instead say 'The UK'. Similarly, they'll often say 'Break up the UK' instead of 'independence'. This is messaging.

11-14 The other four are smears, omission, client pundits & malcontents. Smears are usually lifted from a pro-Union newspaper and headlined for several days. The 'Sturgeon VIP lounge' is an example. From time to time you'll also hear the SNP being accused of 'Secrecy & Coverup'.

14-14 This is what BBC Scotland is. It isn't a news outlet. It's a political messaging outlet. It doesn't inform the public, it influences the public. It campaigns against the SNP and independence. What else *would* it do? It's the British Broadcasting Corporation.

13-14 Malcontents is an old tactic. It used to be Jim Sillars who provided the headline. Now it's one of a tiny fringe group comprising Fergus Ewing, Joanna Cherry, Kate Forbes, Ash Regan and Alex Neil. The attack allows BBC Scotland to push its 'Civil War/ Split' messaging.

12-14 Omission is pretty obvious. Stories that contradict the anti-SNP messaging are either marginalised or are simply ignored. What of client punditry? Listen to guest pundits on BBC Scotland. They will more often than not provide opinion that bolsters the anti-SNP messaging.

10-14 How many times have you seen a negative ferry story headline, 'NHS Crisis' headline or SNP/Scottish Govt 'under growing pressure' headline? BBC Scotland has five key tactics it employs to reinforce this messaging. The repeat messaging we've mentioned.

9-14 Successful messaging requires time. It's why you'll see BBC Scotland repeat the same anti-SNP stories over and over, even when there have been no developments. How many times have you seen the 'blue police tent' in Nicola Sturgeon's garden?

7-14 It's why BBC Scotland started broadcasting counter messaging during the Covid pandemic. The FM's Covid messaging was encouraging the public to trust her, and by extension, independence. BBC Scotland set about undermining it. It succeeded.

6-14 Messaging is far more subtle and more effective. Messaging is used to encourage the public to build an image of an individual, party or policy. In the case of BBC Scotland, the messaging encourages the public to build negative images of Independence and the SNP.

5-14 If BBC Scotland doesn't produce news then what do we see on our screens and hear on our radios? Messaging, that's what. The most successful political campaigns rely on repeat messaging. Messaging shouldn't be confused with slogans. 'Get Brexit Done' was a slogan.

Good to see Radio Scotland's reach shrinking. This is the whole station, including Off the Ball and Sportsound. Good Morning Scotland's numbers must be falling off a cliff. The phone-in will get rid of the rest. Goodness only knows what the numbers are for Lunchtime Live.

Looks like BBC Scotland is promoting yet another smear story involving the Scottish NHS and a surgeon. Jackie Baillie is already trying to score political points off of it. Look out for it.

If true then this is a scandal that demands investigating.

Everyone in Scotland needs to see this. Anyone else out there in O&G heard this? If this is true, this is horrendous and must be stopped.
