Lance Corporal Arthur William Bull was from Watford. Serving with 10th Battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment he was killed on Christmas day 1916. He is buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery. He was 26 years old.
Captain Leonard Birch volunteered early in the war and was commissioned in November 1914. He joined the 1st Battalion, Border Regiment and deployed to France with the unit in July 1915. He was killed on 23rd April 1917 during an attack on Monchy-le-Preux. He was 24 years old.
Private Samuel Phillip Eason was from Yeovil Marsh, Somerset. He served with 1st Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry. He was killed on 2nd November 1914 when their positions near Ploegsteert were heavily shelled.
He has no known grave. He was 28 years old.
Second Lieutenant Charles Henry Harriman was from Wolverhampton. He served with 43 Squadron RFC.
He was shot down and killed while taking part in an offensive patrol on 29th October 1917. He is buried in Lapugnoy Military Cemetery. He was 23 years old.
Captain Arnold Leslie Johnson's family home was in Congleton, Cheshire. He enlisted early in the war and served with 5th Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 14th October 1918.
He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. He was 27 years old.
Second Lieutenant Vincent Sladen Wing was from London. He was posted to France on 10th May 1917 to serve with 65th Howitzer Battery, 28th Brigade, RFA.
He was killed rescuing Portuguese soldiers from a burning barn on 10th August 1917. He was 19 years old.
Captain Robert Edward Watson Semple MC was born in South Stoneham, Hampshire. He joined the Royal Field Artillery and was posted to France on 12th December 1915. Having been wounded he died in Hospital of Spanish Flu on 5th November 1918. He was 21 years old.
Private John Edward Newton was from the Gateshead, County Durham. He served in the 20th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (Tyneside Scottish). He was killed on 8th September 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial.
He was 33 years old.
Corporal Martin William Dodds was from Yorkshire.
He served in 19th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (2nd Tyneside Pioneers). He was killed on 28th March 1918 defending the village of Dernancourt, south west of Albert. He has no known grave. He was 30 years old.
Lieutenant Charles Whitelock was from Barnsley, Yorkshire. He joined the Royal Flying Corps in August 1917. He trained to be a pilot and joined 55 Squadron in Feb 1918. On 16th July 1918 he was killed when his DH4 bomber crashed on take-off. He was 20 years old.
Lieutenant Frank Farquharson was from Keith, Scotland. He enlisted in 6th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. He was killed during a night attack near Givenchy on 3rd June 1915. Frank has no known grave and is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. He was 21 years old.
Sergeant Daniel Chapman was born in London. Living in Canada he enlisted in 1914. Serving with 18th Battalion C.E.F he was wounded on 15th September 1916 and died in hospital two weeks later. He was buried in Étaples Military Cemetery. He was 30 years old.
Second Lieutenant Reginald Rogers was from Falmouth, Cornwall. He was a teacher by profession. Serving with 7th Battalion, Rifle Brigade he was killed at Delville Wood on the Somme on 15th September 1916. He is buried in Serre Road Cemetery No.2. He was 33 years old.
Second Lieutenant John Scott was born in Glasgow. He enlisted in October 1914. Serving in 1st Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers he fought in the Battle of the Somme. He was killed on 14th July leading his platoon in an attack.
He is buried in Flatiron Copse Cemetery. He was 24.
Corporal Richard Myers MM was born in Wigan, Lancashire. He emigrated to New Zealand and became a sheep farmer. Serving with 1st Battalion New Zealand Rifle Brigade he fought in the Battle of the Somme. He was mortally wounded at Messines on 19th June 1917. He was 33.
Lieutenant Tom Edwin Adlam VC was from Salisbury, Wiltshire. He was a teacher. Serving with 7th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment he was awarded the VC for his actions at Thiepval on 27/9/1916. He died on the 28th May 1975.
Lieutenant Herbert Milligan was from Edgbaston, Birmingham. After being wounded four times he was killed at Noyuelle near Cambrai on 21st November 1917. He served with 16th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. He was 33 years old and has no known grave.
2nd Lieutenant Cyril McPherson was from Victoria, Australia. His family were farmers. Serving with “C” company of the 38th Infantry Battalion A.I.F he fought at Messines and Ypres in 1917. He survived serious wounds in October 1917 died in May 1960 aged 67.
Captain Walter Joel Ralphs was born in Knutsford, Cheshire. He served with 12th Battery, 35th Brigade RFA. He was severely wounded near Montauban on 15th July 1916 while acting as forward observation officer for the battery. He died of his wounds the same day. He was 32.
Sapper Charles William Vernon was from Wakefield, Yorkshire. He was killed during the Battle of the Somme serving with 82nd Field Company Royal Engineers during the night of 29th / 30th July 1916. He has no known grave. He was 24 years old.
