Heartfelt question to all fellow Indians: Remember the Galwan Valley face-off in 2020? Our brave soldiers gave their lives defending our borders while Chinese forces tried grabbing land in multiple areas of Ladakh. Villages were displaced, grazing grounds lost, and the LAC was pushed back in several friction points. Families lost loved ones — that pain still lingers in our hearts. The nation came together in grief and anger. In response, the government took firm measures: banned dozens of Chinese apps over security concerns, introduced strict FDI rules (Press Note 3) targeting investments from border-sharing countries like China, restricted contracts, and strongly promoted ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’. It felt like a necessary stand — protecting Indian jobs, data, sovereignty, and self-respect after such aggression on our soil. Today, govt sources indicate the Dixon-Vivo joint venture is in the final stages of approval. An Indian company partnering closely with a Chinese smartphone giant. After years of curbs, this shift raises painful questions. Factories may boom and volumes may rise, but what about the land grabbed in Ladakh? What about the soldiers who stood firm so we wouldn’t bow economically? I understand the arguments for more manufacturing and jobs. But as an ordinary Indian who still remembers the images from Galwan and the reports of Chinese incursions in Ladakh, this feels like forgetting the bigger picture. Have the border threats vanished? Has trust been rebuilt enough to fast-track such partnerships? Or are short-term economic gains quietly overriding the long-term need for true self-reliance and security? This isn’t blind opposition — it’s a call for honesty. Our government owes us clarity: What changed since 2020? Where is the red line when it comes to Chinese businesses, especially after territorial losses? We pushed ‘Make in India’ precisely to reduce dependence — why lean on the same players now? Fellow citizens, let’s reflect: Are we learning from history or repeating it for convenience? Share your thoughts respectfully.
