When It's Healthier to Let Someone Go/ Sometimes, cutting someone off doesn't mean you stopped loving them. It means you realized the relationship isn't good for you anymore. When should you walk away? It's probably time to let go when: - The relationship hurts you more than it makes you happy. - You constantly feel anxious, insecure, or emotionally drained. - You have to abandon your boundaries just to keep the person around. - You're stuck in the same toxic cycle over and over. 1/9
You’re told:
“let them go.”
“choose yourself.”
“you’ll be okay eventually.”
But no one tells you about the quiet moments when you still reach for your phone, hoping their name appears. No one tells you how strange it feels to have so much love left for someone who is no longer part of your life.
And no one tells you that healing isn’t forgetting them it’s slowly learning how to exist without waiting for them to come back.
Yesterday I told my therapist I get attached too quickly.
She handed me a journal and said,
"If someone's attention makes you emotionally invested before they've earned your trust, these 10 questions will reveal why your heart keeps confusing being noticed with being deeply loved."
Here they are: 1/11
Sometimes the person you wanted to spend forever with becomes a stranger you pass in your memories. Their voice fades, their face becomes softer in your mind, and eventually you realize you cannot remember the last time you wished they would come back. That is when you know the heart has quietly moved forward.
I pray one day u find someone who loves u so much u forget how it feels to hurt. I pray they kiss u every night and I pray u wake up warm with their arms around u. I pray that person loves every fiber of u and enjoys every moment they have with u. Most of all, I pray u let them.
Baby, one of the strangest and sweetest things about loving you is realizing that my feelings haven't stayed in one place. I thought I knew how much I cared about you when we first became close, but somehow, the more time passes, the more I discover that there's still another level of affection waiting for me.
I notice it in little things. I become more interested in the things that matter to you. I remember details you probably don't even realize you've told me. I find myself wanting to understand you better, not just the version of you that everyone gets to see, but the private parts of you, the thoughts you keep to yourself, the things that make you happy, and even the things that sometimes hurt you.
It's almost surprising how someone can become more familiar to you while still giving you new reasons to fall for them. I don't feel like I've reached the end of discovering you. If anything, getting to know you has made me more curious about the person you're becoming and about all the experiences we'll still have together.
My heart has become very comfortable with you. Not because I take you for granted, but because there's something reassuring about knowing that you're someone I genuinely want. I don't have to keep searching for some imaginary person who might make me feel differently. My attention keeps coming back to you because you're the person who has captured it in the first place.
And I hope you know that my love for you isn't something I see as having an expiration date. I don't want to only love the version of you that exists today. I want to meet the different versions of you that life will create, the woman you'll become, the dreams you'll chase, the things you'll learn, and the changes you'll go through.
If I get the chance, I want to keep falling for you in all those different seasons. I want my love to have room to grow alongside you, rather than remaining stuck in one moment.
So yes, somehow, even after everything, I still find myself falling for you a little more. And honestly, I wouldn't want it any other way.
Yesterday I told my therapist I couldn't move on.
She handed me a journal and said,
“If someone's no longer in your life but still takes up space in your thoughts, these 10 questions will help you understand why your heart keeps going back to a chapter that has already ended.”
Here they are: 1/2
You came into my life without warning and somehow changed everything before I even realized what was happening. Suddenly, you became my first thought when I opened my eyes in the morning and the last person on my mind before I fell asleep. I found myself smiling at random moments simply because I remembered you. Loving you wasn't something I planned, but somehow the most unexpected thing became one of the most beautiful parts of my life. And honestly, I haven't wanted to go back to the person I was before you.
After certain things happen, you just don’t feel the same way about people anymore. It doesn’t matter how much you loved them, how long you’ve known them or how much history you share. Once someone shows you a side of themselves you can’t unsee, something inside you changes. You can forgive them and still feel differently. You can care about them and still no longer trust them the same way. Some things don’t end relationships immediately, they simply change the way you see the person forever.
imagine dating someone who is actually into you. they text because they miss your voice, make plans because they want you there, remember the dumb little things you said weeks ago. they give a shit about what you’re chasing and don’t get weird when life gets heavy. no games, no roster, no making you earn basic affection. you never have to wonder where you stand. nobody’s keeping one foot out the door waiting to see if something better walks by.
My promise to you is that I will be more than just your lover. I want to be your best friend, your safe place, and the person you can come to without fear of being judged. I want to stand beside you when life is beautiful and hold you closer when life becomes difficult. I will care for your heart, respect your feelings, protect the trust between us, and keep choosing you. My love isn't something I want to give you only on good days I want to give it to you every day.
no relationship is going to be effortless all the time. two people can love each other deeply and still misunderstand each other, disagree and have difficult seasons. what matters is whether both people are willing to keep showing up. nobody walks into your life already knowing exactly how to love you. you learn each other. you communicate. you adjust. you make mistakes and try again. too many relationships end the moment things stop feeling easy, as if difficulty automatically means incompatibility. sometimes love isn’t about finding someone who fits your life perfectly from day one. it’s about finding someone who cares enough to learn how to build a life with you. real love takes work, darling. but so does anything worth keeping.
Baby, I know our relationship isn't always going to look perfect, and I don't expect it to. We're human, we have different feelings, different ways of thinking, and there will be moments when we don't understand each other the way we should. But even with all of that, there is something in me that still feels certain about you. When I think about the person I want beside me through the different seasons of life, I still see you.
I don't want a love that only survives when everything is easy. I want the kind where we can have difficult days and still find our way back to each other. The kind where we can admit when we're wrong, talk through what hurts, learn from each other, and continue growing together. I don't expect us to never have problems; I just don't want problems to become the reason we stop caring about each other.
You have become someone incredibly important to me, and that's not something I can simply switch off whenever things become complicated. I still want your presence in my life. I still want your laughter, your conversations, your affection, your little habits, and all those things that make you uniquely you. There is something about what I feel for you that goes deeper than having everything go perfectly.
Even when I can't find the right words, even when I'm quiet, even when life gets busy, please know that my feelings for you are still there. I care about us, I care about you, and I want to keep discovering where this love can take us. I don't need our story to be flawless. I just want it to be real, and I want both of us to keep choosing it.
I love you, baby. And if life gives us difficult moments along the way, I hope we remember that we're on the same side.
