Crypto crime, investigated: who got hacked, who ran, who got caught. Real cases, no hype. Where On-Chain Drama Lives. By @usmansaifcheemacryptomediazone.com/watch/?utm_sou… On ChainJoined November 2021
@0xinternetchild@MatthewModabber Found it. Paragraphs 121-122 of the complaint name a company called CampusGTM. It says it pairs Polymarket with students who get "paid to run real campaigns", $500 to $2,000 each. The fraternity deals ($15 a sign-up) were separate, straight from Polymarket's people.
@0xinternetchild@MatthewModabber Haven't seen it named anywhere yet. The NACA complaint (DC Superior Court, 26 June) just calls it an agency that recruited college students. If it turns up I'll post it here.
What the videos behind this showed: The Wall Street Journal checked 1,105 from 10 paid creators. About $1.9M of "winning" bets on screen, none of them real trades. Polymarket declined to comment on the firing. cryptomediazone.com/fakebets
NEW: Polymarket has fired its chief marketing officer, Matthew Modabber, who was closely allied with CEO Shayne Coplan, the New York Post reported.
This reportedly followed an internal investigation that started earlier this year after a series of incidents raised concerns among
@mattkratter Good to know for anyone thinking of joining: it was filed on 11 September in the Ontario Superior Court, and it's a proposed class action, so a judge still has to certify it. Nothing in it has been proven yet.
@SimplyBitcoin Worth adding: it's still a proposed class action. A judge has to certify it before it can go ahead, and none of the claims have been tested. Coinkite told Bitcoin.com News it can't comment on pending litigation.
@TheEconomist Uphill is right: the Supreme Court agrees to hear about 1% of the petitions it gets. A federal appeals court upheld every part of his verdict on 12 June. He is serving 25 years.
@CoinDesk@Polymarket The consumer group NACA sued Polymarket, Coplan and Modabber in June (DC Superior Court). It alleges undisclosed paid posts, fake-bet videos filmed on a simulated version of the site, and students paid $500 to $2,000 a campaign. No court has ruled.
@CryptosR_Us It's a derivative suit filed in Circle's name by one shareholder. Circle says it "did not initiate, direct, authorize, or participate in the filing." The White House calls it frivolous; World Liberty says it's without merit. No court has ruled.
@bitpinas Worth noting: the $3B is Remulla's own estimate ("I think he has $3 billion... converted into cryptocurrency"). No evidence for it has been published. And Justice Secretary Vida says immigration records show Ang never left the country.
@ftosol@fomo A twist since: a promoter, Sahil Arora, told Decrypt he launched the coin and planned the crash. Bubblemaps says the on-chain numbers don't back his profit claims. Mayweather has not commented, and the posts were deleted.
@DailyDarkWeb Update: Qubic restarted the network on 19 October. Owners of the emptied wallets can file claims until 1 May 2027. The weak seeds came from the wallet app, not the network itself.
@thebillyboone He has said so himself: he told Bitcoin Magazine in 2019 he spent "something near 100,000 BTC" in 2010, on pizza and other things. In June 2010 he made it an open offer, two pizzas for 10,000 BTC any time. By August he said he couldn't keep it up.
@historyinmemes The people around her did not get away: co-founder Sebastian Greenwood is serving 20 years and lawyer Mark Scott got ten. She is still wanted, with a reward of up to $5M. German police work on the assumption she is alive.
@arkham What made this one different: no password or key was stolen. The attackers fed Bitget's own security system fake paperwork. The loss is being covered from its 5,500 BTC user protection fund.
@TheBlockCo The detail that stands out: the SEC says the weekly 2% to 4% "gains" were typed in by hand, and it never showed a losing week. Of about $1.16B deposited, under $26M was ever traded.
@coinbureau It is CoinDCX's second loss in 15 months: about $44M went in a hack in July 2025. This time the exchange still has not given its own figure for what was lost.
@inquirerdotnet Two days later the Justice Secretary, Fredderick Vida, said the opposite: "Per records of the department, he is still here." The Bureau of Immigration has no record of Ang leaving. He faces 26 counts and denies any part in it.
@WuBlockchain Worth knowing: the shareholder filed it in Circle's name, and Circle says it did not start the case. The White House called it frivolous; World Liberty said it is without merit. No court has ruled.
@BitcoinNewsCom The claim says Coinkite was warned of the flaw in May 2025, 14 months before the thefts. Naderi says he lost 1.2294 BTC, about $79,764. It is still a proposed class: a judge has to certify it before it goes any further.
