The unique difference you can achieve in atmosphere and aesthetic by playing around with some basic render settings in cubical.
Next update is going to be HUGE, so big, even the GIANT is getting added! Basic rendering for all the common mob entities is just one of the MANY new features that are coming!

A few other examples of some entities that will be included in the next update. All of these are currently imported in through a structure file, but there will most likely be another tool added at some point to manually add them to builds as well.
Working on some multi layer entity rendering that will be in the next update, villagers are *almost* perfect.
Not sure what to think about this. It's great for the community, but it also drains a lot of my motivation for continuing in the direction I have been. There are newer updates I've been quietly working on that I may just finish up, then try pivoting to something else, idk.

The initial steps for the dynamic block/library system I talked about a month or so is now (mostly) working. This is a screenshot imported into cubical which features over 140,000 unique colors using the tint system, and for each one, a unique block type was added.

The updated terrain generator can produce some really interesting results when the dimensions are skewed. This map is over 2000 blocks long x 16 wide, and uses the Island setting to force generation into a very thin mountain ridge.
Terrain tool update! Happy to report that the terrain tool idea is working out better than I expected so far! IMHO it has a very good chance at being the fastest, and easiest, terraforming tool ever created. It can handle what would normally take multiple tools and passes.

Still early, but I'm testing out an idea for a new terrain brush that works similar to a 3D height map combined with the magic of perlin noise. The ultimate goal is to allow anyone the ability to create natural looking terrain, without needing any previous skill in terraforming.
Last bit of terrain gen testing to wrap things up, this time using a custom image mask! Results shown are from the base grayscale image, as well as two other unshown variants where I used some post processing filters before importing.
Tried making a more focused island type terrain area by scaling everything towards the center. Fairly impressed so far by how easily you can shape things while still retaining the noisy natural look. Might try importing an image in next to try a more complex shape.

@cubical_xyz I was reading this at like 4 in the morning, I get what you are doing now, that's a cool idea. At first I thought any blocks properties could be added 😆 I was thinking door designs that could use a textured block with slime block properties and glowing blocks with any texture
@cubical_xyz Yeah, I started building huge stained glass windows and whole designs based off it. I just thought with what you have here I might be able to do something, I think I had a go at adding light through the RTX thing as well

@cubical_xyz Never tried the distant horizon mod which the Reddit poster is using, would assume distant horizon will be less performance hungry than Bobby mod. Definitely will give that distant horizon mod a go 👍🏻.

@cubical_xyz if I remember correctly, at certain distances they switch to lower lod models that are based off of the height of the world, instead of rendering every block individually
@cubical_xyz It'd be cool if you make it a feature to take a screenshot from a isometric view with the white textures. (With everything else cropped out)

@cubical_xyz Yeah it can be sometimes. I mean the castle is something I build on whenever I'm not in the best mood so when it got corrupted I sorta was like "Meh. Either I'll get help or I'll rebuild it anyways" but thank you so much for helping me and no problem! I'll report as I find.
