Hi fellow physics Ts! It’s my first time teaching AP Physics 1 and I am truly struggling with this course. Are there any suggestions/resources you may for teaching myself what Ss need to know?
Most days this year have been very draining, as a first-year. The littlest things make me quite happy in my room though.
Hi Physics Ts! I’m trying to create my class packets for Regents Physics and I’m having trouble vectors. I thought it would be appropriate to put vector addition and drawing vectors to scale after free fall before projectiles but now I’m not sure. Any suggestions?
I’m currently planning for the introduction of forces and Newton’ laws of motion. Do my fellow educators have any veteran information/tips on the order to present the laws for a rookie? I’ve never really liked the idea of teaching 1st -> 2nd -> 3rd law.
It could just be me, but I really miss seeing my Ss’ handwriting. I feel like it was another way of getting to know them better. They barely write anything now since passing papers seems risky during a pandemic and now that the district is strongly encouraging digital tools.
@BarnettDreyfuss @leetramp I actually used these videos today for my lab and the students did really well!! Thank you for the tip 😁
Physics Ts, do you have any recommendations for virtual labs? I have two Ss fully remote learning and I haven’t figured out how I’m going to the the CV Buggy Lab with them yet. My colleague recommended using the pHET Wave simulation but I’m not confident with it. #iteachphysics
@msruggerio My colleague is going to talk to our principal today about getting a subscription! I’ve played with it before but I’m excited to actually use it this year 🙌🏻
I told my students at the beginning of the year that they should email me links to physics-related tik toks from their FYP to show in class and two students have already sent me this one ❤️
@BarnettDreyfuss @leetramp Thank you so much for this tip!! Going to check it out now.
Any other teachers feel like crying? I'll push through, but y'all, this isn't what I signed up for. My classes are going pretty good but the workload far exceeds my capacity (and I'm a high capacity person).
POV: you’ve walked in on me planning for hybrid learning with block scheduling and lab days where I only see Ss for one period instead of two.
I think remote learning, overall, went well. However, now that I have to plan for hybrid....
I also just feel like I’m in a weird mood. I told them they shouldn’t work through lunch/enjoy it while they can before we switch to hybrid. Perhaps I came off overhearing? I don’t know. I just wish the lesson had gone better. I need to consider how to approach this on Monday.
Remote learning has been ok, but I feel like today’s lesson went horribly and that my explanations were messy. I tried to explain why the slope is so important when graphing physical quantities and they were just not responsive. Was I not prepared? Was it them? I need to reflect.
I just finished the last Zoom class of my first day!! I’m just so excited. I’m going to think through the tech road bumps I had but overall it went well. The students were a little quiet but i think they’ll come around!!
I have my first day in a new position on Tuesday and I just want to say this - teachers are incredible people. I have felt so supported since the day I was hired. I got ideas and suggestions from a variety of coworkers. I am so grateful.
If you’re lesson planning and don’t have 20 tabs open, are you REALLY lesson planning?🤔
And teachers are still paid pennies. (via x.com/principalspage)
