Your friends who supported the mandates can be quickly forgiven; the powerful who implemented the mandates must be held to account and the cost may need to be their political career. I have no problem with that. We lose our jobs they can lose theirs.

@checkmatestate @whiskeyfisty No, it's hypocrisy to say, "do as I say not as I do," which the elite certainly were doing when it came to the mandates. We can be very vocal about how wrong it is to mandate behavior, but we can welcome people who eventually "get it" and change their minds.

@perlmutations Maybe if the "democrats" weren't always trying to control others, they wouldn't be so afraid when Republicans get power. Respect and tolerance means letting other people live their own truth, not controlling them. Just a crazy thought.

@perlmutations Arguably, this is what having 50 states was supposed to accomplish: having many different ways of living rather than one centralized govt belching mandates. But your proposal of 2 is at least better than 1. Incidentally, I'm no Republican, but I can recognize a step forward.
