The Afghan Taliban have been campaigning for months that Pakistan is their next target, albeit through Taliban-friendly channels in Afghanistan and social media. Then Anas Haqqani visited North Waziristan to pay homage to the masterminds of Taliban suicide bombings and freely moving about the tribal region. His images and videos are now widely distributed by Taliban members and associates to portray the Taliban's influence within Pakistan. Some naive Pakistanis dismiss this as a mere act of offering Fateha. However, the reality is, I'm afraid, that this carefully orchestrated visit will significantly boost the morale of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistanis will continue to downplay it, as always.
