So Canada’s inflation rate tumbled to 2.8% in June but food prices have remained at a 9.1% increase. Skeptics: Give me your best arguments how this isn’t “sellers inflation” or “greedflation” now with Canadian grocers and food distributors.
@daleethompson It’s carbon tax inflation!! Plain and simple.
@daleethompson @stuball6251 The only questions I would have would be: 1) have the fires affected agriculture and 2) have any other calamities affected production?
@daleethompson Everyone also passes along the carbon tax to consumers, it's definitely not helping food prices. My Enbridge bill this month included $36.31 for the carbon tax - which works out to 21% of the bill. So, I think there is a little bit more than just greed alone.
@daleethompson That may be part of it but also the massive increase in the cost of farmland has to also be a factor. Producers are having to pay more for rented land & for purchasing. Equipment, input costs, all of it has gotten more expensive. Costs a lot to feed cows these days.
@daleethompson WOW! 2.9% this month? We are in the clear! CPI math at its finest.
