It makes no sense to have Carlos Baleba in the squad if he is not ready to play. It makes no sense for Shea Lacey to sit on the bench for 90 minutes after what he did vs Brighton. It makes no sense for Leny Yoro to not be given a chance when the defence is this bad. It makes no sense to bring on Joshua Zirkzee as your first choice of sub in a game like this. It makes no sense to invest that much in Andrey Santos with limited money if he has a bit part role. Baffling.

🚨The moment Michael Carrick started using Marcus Rashford on the left and began moving Cunha and other players out of position just to accommodate him, he lost this team. We had a clear structure before this. Now we’re constantly trying to fit Rashford into the XI instead of getting the best out of everyone else. Having to put Marcus Rashford back into this squad is such a sad state of affairs. He’s simply not good enough and there’s a reason Barcelona didn’t want him back. #MUFC

If you want players like Diogo Dalot to be starters at United, then you have absolutely NO right to demand trophies. You can’t have it both ways.

🚨Gary Neville on Hull City stunning Manchester United with a 2–0 lead: 🗣️ Gary Neville: “Manchester United are 2–0 down away at Hull City, and Michael Carrick has got some serious questions to answer. Starting Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans ahead of Kobbie Mainoo is a bold decision, but the bigger issue for me is what United are doing on the left side. “Dorgu has to come off. He is hindering United’s attacks in this game. You cannot play Dorgu at left wing against a team that is sitting this deep and expect him to unlock them. Look at Hull’s shape five defenders, four midfielders and McBurnie practically isolated up front. They are defending with almost everyone behind the ball. “And then you start Dorgu on the left wing? You’re making the game unnecessarily difficult for yourself. Dorgu is at his best when there is space to attack, when opponents come out and give him room to run into. Hull aren’t doing that. They’re sitting deep, protecting the box and asking United to break them down with quality and movement. “This is where you need a player who can receive between the lines, combine quickly, beat a man in tight spaces and create something when there is no room. Dorgu isn’t giving you enough of that tonight. He’s running into traffic and United are losing momentum every time they try to build down that side. “Carrick has to change something immediately. Move the pieces around, bring Mainoo into the game if necessary and get more creativity into the wide areas. United have enough quality to come back, but they can’t continue playing into Hull’s hands. “Hull have executed their plan brilliantly. They don’t want an open game; they want United frustrated. But if you’re Manchester United, you have to recognise that and adapt. You cannot spend 90 minutes trying to play the same way against a team that has already told you exactly how they’re going to defend.”
