Moth trappers have been active. Thanks to the efforts of @dartangler, @RichardFoxBC, @Chris_Vincent2, Karen Debbie May and Mike Passman, 98 species, including 6 species of hawkmoth and 11 new species for the reserve, were trapped at the seaward end of SML on 1st June 2024.

Long overdue meet-up with Eric Wotten this am. Ticked off the Desert Wheatear at Leasfoot Beach, Pectoral Sandpiper +Water Pipit at S Huish and finally 2 Snow Bunting at Slapton. Not a bad morning's birding for S.Devon!

Hummingbird Hawkmoth in my garden this morning.
Spurred on by the efforts of @apusbatesi & @amy_walkden, who made the effort to trap on Fri Night in poor conditions for Art & Energy's Moths to a Flame project, I put my trap out last night. Cold and Clear! Need not have bothered! 3 moths of 3 species! Best a Nfy Brindled Green.
Just one species late! This beautiful Merveille du Jour became my 301st garden species of the year in an otherwise quiet night! 20 moths/12 species. Far prettier than the tatty Maiden's Blush, my 300th, from a couple of nights ago.
Amazing camouflage of this Large Ranunculus Moth, settled on the sundial in my garden!
2 more last night for my garden record in South Brent. Orange Sallow and Palpita vitrealis.
@ Devon Moths This beautiful Clifden Nonpareil flew onto the wall near my 2x30W Actinic Trap last night. My first attempt to pot it failed as the pot was too small for the big moth. Luckily it came back onto the trap! A lifer for me!
