Charlie Kirk’s assassination is straight out of this Haidt book. If you believe that people are evil, it justifies eliminating evil by any means necessary, which includes death. Haidt predicted this because Americans demonize those with whom they disagree.
Of all possible targets, they chose Charlie Kirk, a man who, despite holding strong views, was among the few political influencers who always made the effort to engage civilly and in good faith with people who disagreed with him. Perhaps this is why he was feared.
I saw this video this morning on my feed and I think it so eloquently explains what Charlie Kirk was put on this earth to do. “When people stop talking, that’s when you get violence, that is when civil war happens”
