O co-piloto que atacou o piloto indiano no voo da Flydubai transportando isrelenses já foi identificado. O nome do terrorista islâmico é Hammam Al-Hammami, natural de Omã. Ele atacou o piloto com a machadinha do cockpit, localizada ali para fins de emergência e resgate. O seu objetivo era neutralizar o piloto, tomar o controle do avião e o derrubar com mais de 170 pessoas a bordo, na sua maioria israelenses. O voo só não terminou em tragédia graças ao piloto indiano que, apesar de gravemente ferido, conseguiu destravar a porta blindada do cockpit, abrindo caminho para a entrada dos passageiros israelenses que conseguiram dominar o terrorista islâmico. As investigações confirmaram que ele tinha se radicalizado no extremismo islâmico, com posts nas redes sociais pedindo a morte de judeus. Ainda não está esclarecido como a Flydubai colocou um co-piloto com esse perfil no cockpit de um voo transportando judeus.
