Honestly, if you’re just starting out as an editor, don’t stress about having the perfect laptop or the latest plugins. Just edit something every single day, even if it’s trash. Your first 50 edits will be bad and that’s fine, that’s literally how everyone got good.
Copy videos you love, cut for cut, just to understand why they feel good to watch. Fix your audio before anything else, because people forgive rough visuals way faster than bad sound. And find a small creator who needs help and edit for them cheap or free. You’ll learn more from one real client than ten tutorials.
Start ugly. Get better fast.

One thing I’ve noticed with SaaS edits:
A lot of editors think adding more effects = making the video more engaging.
It doesn’t.
Good editing is about knowing when to add something and when to leave it alone.
The goal isn’t to make the viewer notice the edit.
It’s to make them stay for the message.
Here’s a recent SaaS edit I worked on.
