š£WEāRE HIRING!š£
The Exeter Fire Department is currently accepting applications & resumes for immediate openings for full-time Firefighter Paramedic/AEMT/EMT positions. Check out our hiring flyer to learn more and click here to apply: exeternh.gov/fire/employmenā¦
Five members of A-shift have received an EMS Life Saving Award for their efforts to help save a patient who was suffering from cardiac arrest during a call last month. This was the third such save for A-shift in just the last few months. Strong work A-shift!
Our new Engine 5 is officially in the house and members are getting a close-up look as part of this weekās training to familiarize themselves with some of the new features of the pumper before it goes into service in the coming weeks.
We would like to thank the Select Board for supporting the purchase of new PFAS-free turnout gear to improve the health and safety of our firefighters. The decision to replace the gear came in response to recent studies that have shown firefighter turnout gear contains PFAS.
Members of A-shift spent some time training for scenarios in which a firefighter becomes low on air in a smoke-filled room and needs potentially life-saving assistance. The training gave the crew an opportunity to use the universal buddy breathing system and other techniques.
šØ Weāre hiring! šØ

Well-wishers filled the Town Hall this afternoon to give Chief Eric Wilking a proper send-off into retirement as he closes out a distinguished career in the fire service that spans nearly 42 years. We would like to thank the chief for his years of service to our community.
Itās Flashback Friday once again and today weāre taking you back to Sept. 20, 1980, when our crews battled a fire at the house known as āThe Castleā on Beech Hill Road.

šØ Exeter voters have passed Article 4, which called for the construction of a new police station and fire substation on Continental Drive. See Fire Chief Eric Wilkingās statement on the passage of this critical building project ā¬ļø
Fire Chief Eric Wilking has always ascribed to that old saying, āFind a job you love, and youāll never work a day in your life.ā After nearly 42 years as a dedicated member of the fire service, Chief Wilking has announced that he will retire as Exeterās fire chief on April 19.
On this #ThrowbackThursday, we're taking you back to June 23, 1990, when a four-alarm fire struck downtown Exeter. Three businesses were destroyed, several people were left homeless. It was one of those fires that has been forever etched into the memories of those who responded.
Itās National Love Your Pet Day, but here at EFD every day is Love Your Pet Day because we REALLY love our pets! ā¤ļø Theyāre always excited to see us walk through the door when we arrive home after our shifts, and they know that the feelings are mutual.

Members of D shift responded to this car fire on Portsmouth Avenue just after 9 a.m. today. The driver was able to safely exit the vehicle without injury while our crew was en route to the scene. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire a few minutes later.
Thatās a wrap! Today was our final day on Colcord Pond after a week of comprehensive ice rescue training for all of our firefighters. Each of our shifts has now participated in the training, which will allow our members to become certified ice rescue technicians.
