Meet @poortat0 AKA Henry Ang, our latest #HumansofBACKEDVC edition and our resident blockchain investor! 🌐 Originally from Singapore, Henry has traded the tropical routine for the dynamic life in London. When he’s not deep-diving into blockchain strategies, scouting out early-stage crypto startups, or supporting our founders, you’ll find him trying out the capital’s best pubs or hanging out with his beloved cats. 👉 If you're a #blockchain founder looking for #seedinvestment, follow along because we'll be publishing our latest thesis very soon! 👀 👀 👀 And now let’s hear from Henry: "I spent most of my life in Singapore where things can get very routine and predictable (in a very efficient way) but decided to have an overseas experience with my partner and I. London held a special place in my heart having worked here in my first job in a real estate private equity firm and am grateful for the opportunity at BACKED to make the move happen. Venture capital has always been a huge draw personally; taking early stage bets on potential ground-breaking companies that could make an impact on the world. Identifying successful companies is often more art than science but BACKED’s #humancentric focus on founders resonated deeply, to be able to connect and work alongside their genius made it a perfect fit. "Being able to pursue my passion of blockchain within the environment of BACKED has been a joy." "Andre de Haes and Alex Brunicki have trusted me from the get-go: giving me the autonomy to define our #blockchaininvestment strategy and develop our blockchain network. What is special about what they have both built is not just the work that everyone puts in, but the genuine want for every individual to grow and push outside of their comfort zone. This was never more evident in my introduction to the team — flying from sunny Singapore to the sub-zero temperatures of Helsinki and being presented an opportunity to host a panel at Slush! "I never fully understood the human-centric ethos of BACKED until the Founder’s retreat; to interact with so many amazing founders within our portfolio, learning about their founder journey and how BACKED has been part of it was eye-opening. "The BACKED team itself has been nothing short of a second family to me. Everyone has helped me assimilate into life in London, so much so that I forget that I’ve only been here for 7 months. I look forward to plenty more adventures with them and count myself lucky to be part of this amazing bunch. "Looking forward, I want BACKED to continue to be an independent and original thinker in the blockchain space. I want to back founders that we can grow and elevate each other and if our thesis resonates with you, I would love to have a chat." 🌟 If our human-centric, founder-focused approach resonates with you, let's connect. #BackedVC #FounderJourney #CommunityFirst
