71 years ago, the Moondog Coronation Ball was held in Cleveland. The concert was planned by my grandfather Leo Mintz of Record Rendezvous, and Alan Freed, with whom he supplied R&B records for his radio show. This, the only known intact ticket, was donated to the Rock Hall.
@dougtrattner Hi Doug, I worked at Record Rendezvous Randall Park store in early 80s. I was very excited when I got my first paycheck and saw it was signed by Leo Mintz. I didn’t want to cash it cuz I wanted to keep his autograph 😂 my coworkers thought I was joking.
@dougtrattner Wow! That is some serious family history!!! Cool.
@dougtrattner The Rock Hall is not in Cleveland without your grandfather, the brains behind it all. I always center on Leo and mention that Freed was a hired gun when I tell the Rock Hall story. Entrepreneurial spirit!!
@dougtrattner We didn’t know you are Cleveland royalty.
@dougtrattner This was the promo bill/poster.
@dougtrattner I'm so sorry I missed attending, but since I was less than a year old at the time of this concert, that's a pretty good excuse. I doubt my parents would have taken me, anyway.
@dougtrattner 20% federal tax, 3% local tax. And people complain now about our taxes!
