The US is about to plow $7 billion into low-income solar -- could benefit more than 700,000 low-income households. Seems like a big deal that's worth celebrating & giving the administration some credit for! canarymedia.com/articles/solar…
This report analyzes what that $7 billion will do: "if funded, the 35 applications analyzed would deploy 2,917 megawatts of solar capacity, providing $2 billion in savings for 711,068 low-income households over the next five years." cesa.org/resource-libra…
@drvolts But celebrating isn’t NEARLY as much fun as picking a great initiative apart hot take by hot take!!
@drvolts I qualify for low income solar but I can't afford the 2,000. to have the old panel replaced on poll outside. so I screwed still paying 300++ on power in summers
@drvolts Crazy that most of this won't go out until after the election. So long...and then under threat of rollback from Republicans.
@drvolts Hope there are special rates for low income in PGE territory.
@drvolts @CnBsNana They need a slogan . The whole set of massively worker-uplifting, overwhelmingly earth-friendly, but pathetically-titled IRA programs needs a new name . #AmericaWorks #WeBuildAmerica Let's Go, #SolarJoe
@drvolts Depends on the classification of "low income" washingtontimes.com/news/2024/feb/…
