Once science establishes certain parameters such as determining the age of certain features this then becomes carved in stone so to speak and becomes absolute no matter if it's right or wrong.

In 1788 James Hutton was at Siccar Point in Scotland and noticed erosion while observing rock layers and cycles of sediment and determined that these layers must have taken vast amounts of time to develop. These became the Principles of Uniformitarinism.

Dating of fossils is done by using stratigraphy which is the the branch of geology concerned with the order and relative position of strata and their relationship to the geological time scale.

Bee's which are vulnerable to environmental changes survived extinction along with mosquitoes, ants and cockroaches. These species remained unchanged so there weren't any undue influences to alter their nature.

Many aquatic species both fresh water and salt water including sturgeons, gar, sharks, ceolacanths and horseshoe crabs survived the supposed extinction event indicating this was not as devastating as computer models project.

There are many species that survived the supposed asteroid impact some of which were sensitive to their environment including turtles, frogs, and salamanders.

There have been many large asteroid strikes over time and for some reason only the "dinosaur killer" has left an iridium layer. It is more likely that the iridium layer was left by a large volcanic event.

The alleged dinosaur killer asteroid contained iridium but wasn't made of iridium. There's a question if there was enough material in this rock to leave such a tremendous debris layer across the globe.

The dinosaur extinction asteroid theory is based on a seemingly global iridium layer. Iridium is supposedly a scarce commodity on Earth but there seems to be plenty for the manufacture of spark plugs.
