@GlobeStcom 9/11 pushed a lot of companies to the suburbs only to have them return. #Amazon and #Facebook just lease over 1M sq ft in NYC during the pandemic. Perhaps not leaving is the answer. Still to early to tell what the true effects of the pandemic will be.#doweneedoffices

@GlobeStcom #DoWeNeedOffices I read a quote "Buying a suburban home in July was like buying toilet paper in April" #Technology allows for a decentralized #workforce. Urban #qualityoflife, public #transit #COVID limitations, #essentialservices, public schools must compete with the suburbs.

@GlobeStcom Downsizing has been a trend for the last 20 years. Every office user has been streamlining use, the pandemic only accelerated the situation. Every new job in this expansion has produced 100 sq ft less of use than the previous expansion. #DoWeNeedOffices

Still, home internet service and server connections is difficult (Although the cloud should be the go-to). Videos still freeze and difficult to read social cues when someone is about to speak or has a questions; more so in group settings. #DoWeNeedOffices

@GlobeStcom #DoWeNeedOffices Downsizing #OfficeSpace because of #remotework & #FlexSpace is offset by de-densification. The old, shoulder-to-shoulder open landscape, reminiscent of early 20th Century manufacturing will be significantly reduced. Some less; some more. Too early to tell.
