When you get a review that starts with “As a white scholar with an Indigenous Studies background...” and then goes on to explain Indigenous ways of being to Indigenous authors …. Ummmm WHAT!?
Um, thanks for studying us bruh (?!) but maybe continue listening to and learning from what we are saying……..
@ecohugger there oughta be a law, or editorial policy. Evidently a person can take a few courses and miss the most important point, assuming the “background” was taught by competent (Indigenous) scholars. What exactly are the accreditation standards for Indigenous Studies… & who decides?
@ecohugger I wonder what these people think they need to "correct" or "explain"...like if a person talking is indigenous, then what they're saying about being indigenous is what they experienced as an indigenous person so what is there to debate here...my brain hurts😂
@ecohugger Imagine having an indigenous studies background and still being colonized as hell.
@ecohugger That’s like literally half of academic studying Africa, Asia, Latin America… white scholar with hyper mobility parachuting into different countries to study ‘the natives’ or being consultings on how to ‘improve their condition’…..
