Level 3 non-speaking autistics are the ones people have ZERO hope or expectations for. They often live lives being horribly abused and not being taught anything past colors and simple needs, so you wonder why they only know colors and simple needs.
@Galaxibrain444 I know a nonspeaking autistic guy who was being taught numbers and colours at a school for autistic children (where they didn't really want him, because he was supposedly ineducable) and when he fiiiinally got access to robust AAC he asked to be taught calculus.

@ekverstania It's wild because my experiences are different from a non-speaker but I too sincerely thought there was certain higher level thought I couldn't reach, but after learning the way my brain works, it's like I'm rapidly conceptualizing the world.
@ekverstania @Galaxibrain444 I know a functionally nonspeaking autistic boy who at 7 years old could write "coelacanth" and "tyrannosaurus rex", unaided, with no errors. He also knows the Cyrillic alphabet.
