@VikingWoman5 My 11 yr old had hers removed 6 days ago. Doctor said ‘you’ll hate me for 10 days, and then be glad you did it.’ So far, the first part is right! 😆 hers were literally touching each other & she was having trouble swallowing. Right call, but hard to watch this recovery 😢
@taylorswift13 Our family loves Betty, but even the clean version is problematic for our youngsters. Our 8 year old recently shared she found a way to sing along to the whole thing: ‘would you tell me to go straight back home?’ I loved her amended lyric & hope you do too!
@JosiahHawthorne When they were preschoolers I put a sign in their wall with three jelly beans velcroed to it. Every time they came out they lost a jelly bean. However many were left in the morning they got to have that many w/breakfast the next morning. Worked for a time, but not forever. . .
@JosiahHawthorne We’ve had all these same problems! 13 years into parenting we’ve found some sanity in having essentially double bed times. They go 2 bed & read, draw, do whatever in their rooms until the ‘drop dead’ bedtime, when they are welcome 2 come down & tell us goodnight 1 last time.
@jtrebach When I was in labor with my firstborn, the only thing they’d allow me to eat was jello (which I hate, but it was something to eat!). I threw up during transition. The nurse was panicked because it was red & ‘clotty’. I had to remind her it was the jello she’d given me!
@jk_rowling tonight we finished The Christmas Pig (the season got away from us!). During the final ~50 pages, my 7 y/o started pulling out art supplies. She made the Loser (note CP, the (green) broken angel, & Holly’s bad habit (purple). Thank you for another lovely story!

@JosiahHawthorne Even if we believe in our core that giving kids more agency is better, it does feel disappointing that we don’t get to ‘cash in’ on the decision-making we trusted would someday be ours to make! (Choosing the movie, where we get dinner, etc.)
@JosiahHawthorne I really appreciate you giving voice to this, because I often find myself irrationally disappointed because the line was always ‘when you’re the grown up you’ll get to ____’. But now that we’re the parents, the rules have changed and in many ways we don’t get to call the shots.
