I don’t understand how late night bookstores that serve drinks and snacks and have cozy, overstuffed chairs to lounge in aren’t a thing by now.
When I lived in London in the late 1990 and early 2000’s @Starbucks had late night openings. Comfy couches. Multi levels. But no bookstore. It was a bring your own situation. But they did provide the drinks and cozy vibes. No rushing you out the door. It was fabulous as an early 20’s world traveler.
@emhoneyreads I personally miss Borders books on Buchanan Street, Glasgow, circa twelve years ago for that. It needs to become a thing again. You're right!
@emhoneyreads @mbriidget I also want to understand why 🫡
@emhoneyreads They have a lot of these places, look on Google maps lol
@emhoneyreads Kibbitznest in Chicago is exactly this and has board games and it’s amazing!
@emhoneyreads I agree. One of my dreams was to have a book shop that also functioned as a coffee shop with local bands and poets, authors reading, etc. I wish we lived in a world where small businesses like this could survive. The dream is dead. 🥺
