One of the biggest mistakes people make when writing resume bullet points is focusing too much on what they did and not enough on what they achieved. Your resume shouldn't just describe your responsibilities. It should show the impact of your work. Whenever you can, put some numbers behind your achievements. Did you: - Save the company money? - Save time? - Make a process more efficient? - Increase revenue or sales? - Manage a larger team or more customers? - Reduce errors or improve quality? For example: Instead of: "Managed customer accounts." Try: "Managed 40+ customer accounts and reduced average response time by 25%." Or: "Automated a manual reporting process, saving the team 10 hours per week." Or: "Reduced annual software costs by $80K by consolidating redundant tools." You don't need a number in every bullet. But when you have one, use it. It gives recruiters a much clearer idea of the value you brought to your previous roles.

Most people approach a job search as a numbers game. Apply to 100 jobs. Then 500. Then 1000. If nothing happens, apply to even more. But what if the problem isn't the number of applications? What if you're applying to the wrong jobs, positioning yourself poorly, using the same resume everywhere, or spending your time on opportunities where you have little chance of standing out? A better job search isn't necessarily about doing more. It's about learning what works. Which roles generate responses? Which resumes generate interviews? Where are you losing opportunities?
