I’ve found there are diminishing returns and exponential risk with putting more of “yourself” into something that you can’t control.
The best outcomes have been when effort is proportional to the level of ownership.
This means giving contributors more skin the game. 💪

🤣 My design doc got hit with this meme
They're not not wrong. It's very rare that complexity just goes away💨
Instead, we manage complexity by pushing it "left":
👈 From Components into Stores
👈 From Stores into the Backend
👈 From our servers to their servers
I wonder why the useActionState API didn’t happen first?
useFormState never felt right to me because it forced creating a seemingly arbitrary component. 🧐

The most recent update of VSCode now includes support for custom editor labels. This feature is especially useful for Next.js projects! I shared the configuration to improve pages display.
The best thing about executing GraphQL on the client is having a single query handle the cascading and data stitching.
All wrapped in <Suspense>
Before, I had useQuery hooks that I’d pause/enable depending on parent data being present.
urql has this @\populate directive that seems to magically invalidate and refresh lists with that entity.
Now to figure out how to do the same for deletions.
This is the ONLY place I’ve had to do invalidation so far! 🤞🏻
graphql-codgen config for the best fully-typed, client-side GraphQL experience with TypeScript 👇

Took lots of finagling to get this right, but the result is 💯
I ended up leveraging urql’s normalized cache + client-side resolvers to do this (and automatically invalidate mutations).
I was running into issues with caching lists, items, invalidation, and route changes.

Testing out @graphql-codegen and wanted to avoid running a watcher or requiring an extra step for seldom-changed files.
