Just a thought: think about how certain appeals to bipartisanship render invisible the people who have to bear the brunt of the compromise.
It feels like an echo of the appeals for national unity as former Union and Confederate soldiers gathered in Gettysburg in 1913 for the 50th anniversary of the battle. The Great Reunion required the disappearance of Black folk altogether.
@esglaude I can say this as an old white woman…when I hear bipartisan working group, I think “white”. Not the news on a bipartisan voting group…no mention of Senators Warnock, Booker, and Ossoff.
