I talk a lot about rape as a fictional device, and where it actually belongs. Stories about sexual assault are important. They need to be told. We can't pretend this is something that doesn't happen without shaming victims and continuing the "you're dirty, you're bad" narrative.

@seananmcguire Ursula le Guin's The Word For World is Forest weaves rape into a story about imperialism, colonialism, ecocide and genocide. It's 50 yrs old and still wildly relevant today, but i gotta go have a lie down after every reread.
