@econ466 Hopeless news after the elections, clearly this is not the right way to obtain economic progress. The situation was already difficult in Tunisia. However, incompetence and ideological confrontation between parliamentarians have been added now to the evident corruption.#ECON466SDSU

11 people have been arrested as protestors after Abdelwaheb Hablani set himself on fire in protest against poverty and poor living conditions. The incident echoed the self-immolation in 2010 of Mohammed Bouazizi. Ignoring social demands triggers more and more tension in Tunisia.

@econ466 Tunisia had the second-worst traffic death rate per capita in North Africa. Clearly, it is a big problem that the authorities should face. They should stop of avoiding the issue and start to recognise the scale of it as well as impose policies such as better road maintenance.

@MAlyssaA2 Sex education in schools is really important topic that affects many aspects of society. There isn't a large number of countries that take into account it on their education policies. It reflects a big change towards progressism. I hope it matches as well with an economic growth.

aljazeera.com/news/2019/11/d… The Dunes Electroniques music festival comes back after a three-year silence following several deadly attacks with more than 20 international and local DJs and thousands of revellers. This event reveals how the tourism sector is reviving more and more.

@MAlyssaA2 Film sector is usually very helpful as an incentive for encouraging people to visit the places where movies have been set and increasing the tourism. Therefore, visa free travel for Indians is an important new for both Indian film-makers looking for new chances, and Tunisians.

@econ466 Previously, Chahed's cabinet focused on spending cuts to bring the deficit and public debt under control and also raising spending on security to raise the number of tourists. It is questionable this way of facing the economic challenges and corruption in the country.#ECON466SDSU

It's needed a stability for pushing economic reforms."Heart of Tunisia" endorsed Ennahda’s veteran leader as parliament speaker, a sign the 2 parties can leave their past hostility and cooperate. Ennahda had sworn not to enter into coalition with them, as they are corrupt elite.

@econ466 It's amazing. Tunisia would be the first monetary authority to issue a central bank digital currency (CBDC). However, Tunisia's Central Bank is denying these claims. Instead, they afirm that are trying similar alternatives less risky for cyber security and financial stability.

@MAlyssaA2 It is going to be difficult for Tunisia to establish a stable government. After Saied's victory, it is more probably that a conservative coalition will be formed. However, nothing seems certain by now. #ECON466SDSU #Tunisia

Despite he keeps his innocence, the politician Mr. Makhlouf is accused of harassing a student. Consequently, Tunisians are running feminist movement similar to #MeToo, asking for a fair judicial response for this case and in order to address common harassments suffered by woman.

@MAlyssaA2 The corruption in Tunisia is hard. It's affecting significantly to public sectors including security, health, transport,.. so that, to read examples as this post about how are they addressing this problem is a really good new. However, it will be a long way. #ECON466SDSU #Tunisia

@MAlyssaA2 After elections times are going to be really difficult for Tunisians. New fragmented government maybe success to get rid of corruption, but it is going to be harder to impose economic reforms and to show that democracy actually leads to prosperity. #ECON466SDSU #Tunisia

@davisniehaus17 The article reflects some opinions of Tunisians that really are shocking. It's sad that they miss dictatorship period because they felt more economic stability. They are really proud of the democracy achieved; however, it loses all its importance if its quality of life is worse.
