Recently found myself needing to unpack #UnrealEngine PAK files so I could compare the effect of different packing options. Here is the short #Python3 script I used as a gist. gist.github.com/executionunit/… (no it will not unpack commercial or encrypted games)

I learned an interesting lesson recently about code rot: If you use a large teams engine (unity/unreal) your code rots at an accelerated rate. So your code rots faster and you gain features you'll never use. This is very expensive for small teams over time.

The #Amiga Hardware Reference Manual is one of the best technical guides I've ever read. Concise, detailed and full of lovely white space. Kind of reminds me of the PS2 manuals. Modern consoles have no manuals and that is shit.

Had fun replacing the joystick port on my #Amiga 600 today. When you pushed the joystick in the back popped off and the pins bent in! Also discovered the capacitor juice all over the board was probably fizzy pop... very sticky.

Credit where credit is due. There is a lot wrong with #UnrealEngine and a hell of a lot wrong with Unreal Build Tool but the way you can cross compile on a PC with a mac for iOS builds is pretty good. Well done @UnrealEngine
