rural business consultancy from a graduate perspective, anecdotes of agricultural buying group politics, postgrad gossip - follow @halo42 RT
@farmgroups will no longer exist on twitter soon as i am leaving my current position on 31 Aug. please follow @halo42 as my personal account
interesting web design meeting lined up this afternoon - though i have a feeling my ideas & expectations of the site will far exceed budget!
wonder what the coming week will bring-tomorrow's jobs are ELS visit, draft a 3 year cashflow for a farm purchase & write monthly newsletter
interesting rural planning seminar meeting yesterday in preston...typical council though, said no room for parking & 17 spaces available!!
off to lunch meeting with group's feed company to determine which way the prices for group feed oct to march will go, let's hope for lower!
met some agricultural solicitors yesterday, off on farm soon to do some cashflow management, ELS visit tomorrow, accountant meeting friday!
one of those days where i appear to have had lots of tea breaks but still got lots done, & it's still not 4pm - not normally this efficient!
got in bit of a debate with farmer last night on value of farm consultant. told him about £10k CSF grant which he didnt know of-argument won
think the olde english weather has got its seasons all mixed up. lots of phone activity in office today, farmers catching up on orders!
really can't understand farmers' aversion to ELS-they either don't understand it or are too ignorant of modern day farming subsidy structure
looking forward to couple of days off for a long weekend this week - lots of tasks to be on with before then. first though it's brew time!
rain, sun, hailstones, cloud - we've had it all here this afternoon, plus the printer has taken a hammering today that's for sure
@barbersrural thanks for the heads up, appreciate it!
anyone know any good local web designers?? planning an overhaul, know what i want it to look like but don't know how to build it! please RT
when the sun comes out us english folk can only cope with so much - weekend ailments of sunstroke & an allergic reaction to an insect bite!
right now i can see 100+ big bales being wrapped, mowed grass for silaging, 50 odd sheep grazing & a herd of dairy cows #thecountrysiderules
if farming business is ticking over rather than struggling, is there motivation to improve profits & does it come down to who's in control?
on lookout for sub-contract agri-environment work, trouble is there's a limited amount out there and others fear helping the competition!
els online....once submitted can no longer make changes online, so have to ring up & they will send out paper form...erm not very efficient!
