The hardest part about finetuning LLMs is that people generally don't have high-quality labeled data. Today, @databricks introduced TAO, a new finetuning method that only needs inputs, no labels necessary. Best of all, it actually beats supervised finetuning on labeled data.

For the record, I think the big labs are doing great technical work. I rag on them because their CEOs blatantly lie to the public. And it's in a way that discourages people from learning. There has never been a better time to start programming.

quitting a shit data science job now to pursue your startup is much more costly now than ever, esp after google's data analyst launch. otoh, it's arguably the best time and it will only get more costly from here on
