Rate decision this afternoon. No dot plot this time, so the statement wording is the whole event.
Two things are worth remembering. Positions you are holding now are positions you are holding through it. And the reaction is frequently the opposite of the read for the first twenty minutes.
Decide your size before the release, not during it.
Of 376 prop firms in one industry analyst’s database, 84 are no longer active and another 30 show no sign of operating.
That is roughly a third of the category, in under two years.
You cannot tell which third you are looking at from a landing page. You can ask who is behind the firm, who has actually been paid, and what happens to your balance if it stops. Ask before you fund, not after you request.
September CPI prints at 8:30 Eastern.
You will not get an edge from the number. Everybody gets it at the same second and the algorithms get it first.
What you can control is whether the position you are holding into it is one you chose, or one you inherited from last week and never revisited.
One year ago today, more than $19 billion in positions were liquidated in a single day. The largest cascade anybody has on record.
It happened four days after bitcoin printed an all-time high, in the month the timeline had spent three weeks calling Uptober.
Seasonality did not do that. Leverage stacked on a month everyone had already made their mind up about did.
The 30-year Treasury yield is at its highest in more than nineteen years. The average 30-year mortgage is back over 7% on the daily index. Diesel just crossed $6 a gallon nationally for the first time.
Most of the timeline is still writing as though the only question is how fast rates come down.
You do not have to have a view on that. You do have to know which one your position is betting on.
New month, same timeline, and somebody in your replies is about to explain that they called this.
Nobody called it. A tape went up and the people who happened to be positioned are now writing threads about process.
Keep the receipts on your own trades. They are the only ones that tell you anything.
There is a move in this industry where a firm answers a payout request with a product instead of money.
An upgraded account. A larger balance. A tier with a better name. Anything except the cash you asked for.
If a firm can hand you something else in place of your payout, it was never a payout. It was store credit.
Frontline runs on @TradeDay infrastructure. You request, you get paid, by USD wire or crypto
The Fed meets on the 15th and 16th, with a fresh dot plot.
Worth knowing before you size anything: the July decision was a hold on a 9 to 3 vote, and all three dissents wanted to hike. This is not a room arguing about how fast to cut.
Whatever position you hold into Tuesday is the position you hold through Wednesday afternoon. Decide on Monday whether you are comfortable with that.
Bitcoin spent most of the summer stuck between roughly $61K and $65K. Then it added about 25% in three weeks and cleared $80,000.
Almost nobody was positioned for it. Plenty of people were positioned against it, and over $4 billion in bearish positions got closed out for them.
Nobody owes you the next one either. What you control is whether being wrong costs you a bad week or the whole account.
A prop firm should be the least interesting part of your trading.
No countdown timers. No clause that turns up on payout day. No rule that appears the week you get profitable.
Rules on one page. Up to 95% of the profit. Payouts on request.
If we are the most exciting thing about your month, something has gone wrong.
Most payout denials come down to a rule you agreed to and never read. Outright fraud is rarer than the timeline thinks.
The ones that come up again and again in that coverage: profit distribution and consistency requirements, news-trading windows, and discretionary clauses that let a firm judge a strategy unreasonable after the fact.
Some of those are real risk controls, ours included. The one to actually check before you fund is the discretionary clause, because it is the only one that cannot be measured in advance.

The Treasury’s expanded bond buybacks take effect today. Roughly a doubling of long-end purchases, from about $2B to at least $4B per operation.
If you trade digital assets and you are not watching the bond market, you are trading the second derivative of something you are not looking at.
A quick translation guide for anyone new around here.
'We are still early' usually means it went down. 'Accumulating' means it went down and I bought more. 'Zoom out' means please do not look at the last two weeks. 'This is healthy' means it went down and I have made peace with it.
Save it. It will not help your trading, but your group chat will feel seen.
If you are new here, the plain-English version of what a prop firm actually does.
You show you can trade to a set of rules on an evaluation. Pass it, and you trade our capital instead of your own, keep most of the profit, and your downside is capped at a number you knew before you started.
That is the whole idea. There is no secret sauce and no promise about what you will make, just a clearer set of rules than trading your own account with no plan.
Every trade moves through the same five stages, and you have felt all of them:
1. THE PLAN
2. DOUBTING THE PLAN
3. 'JUST MOVE THE STOP A LITTLE'
4. ACCEPTANCE
5. SCREENSHOT FOR THE GROUP CHAT
Sitting out is a position. Trading half size is one too.
Most blown accounts do not come from a single bad trade. They come from a losing streak and the urge to win it all back in one afternoon.
The traders who make it through slow markets are rarely more talented than the ones who don't. They just stopped arguing with their own risk limit.
"The world you grew up in no longer exists."
Around four in ten people your age can afford a home. The ladder your parents climbed got pulled up somewhere around the third rung.
A funded account does not fix any of that, and we are not going to pretend it does. A skill you actually own is still one of the few things nobody can take back from you.
