@fuelgrannie @IHateNYT So you have a very badly written blog where you string together phrases you’ve read elsewhere, with little to no actual analysis or evidence of why bedrooms need windows. Not making a case for anything.
@fuelgrannie @IHateNYT Maybe it’s important for bedrooms to have windows but “it’s the law” doesn’t tell us why. Maybe 1860s buildings were more densely occupied & worse ventilated. Maybe that law is out of date. I have slept in a tiny windowless room (but in a nice house) and it seemed fine.
@tacticalapology @IHateNYT maybe learn about tenements history.com/topics/immigra…
@fuelgrannie @IHateNYT New build housing where the bedrooms don’t have windows would lack many of the bad qualities of tenements. I think we should ban windows in bedrooms but mandate ventilation, seems like that would solve the high death rate
@fuelgrannie @IHateNYT Normal buildings don’t rely on you jumping out of the window when there’s a fire, perhaps you live somewhere weird but my country has fire alarms and fireproof doors
@tacticalapology @IHateNYT i have a fire escape? many do in nyc?
@fuelgrannie @IHateNYT That’s a weird American thing, apartments in most countries don’t need fire escapes from every dwelling due to better electrical safety standards, fewer fires caused by casual use of firearms, etc
@tacticalapology @IHateNYT yeah fire safety is so like weird
@fuelgrannie @IHateNYT If you’d actually researched your pet topic for a few minutes you’d see that in most countries apartment blocks don’t have NY style external fire escapes because they’re not needed if you build correctly and update your safety laws
@tacticalapology @IHateNYT bedrooms should have windows a hill upon which i choose to perish

@fuelgrannie @tacticalapology Not wanting a windowless bedroom is like everyone on earth’s “pet topic” lol
