I hugely value NHS consultants' work. That's why we've accepted the independent pay review body recommendations in full, giving them a 6% pay rise this year, on top of last year’s 4.5% increase. We've also reformed pension tax rules for consultants which the BMA campaigned for.

This is not basic pay. It includes compulsory overtime pay - nights, weekends & bank holidays, not to mention a 48hr working week. This, in other words, is an official civil service account - supposedly impartial & accurate - parroting blatantly misleading government spin.

Brexit did not create Covid-19 or huge Covid debt. Brexit did not create Ukraine war. Brexit did not fuel commodity prices or global energy crisis. Brexit did not put $ on steroids or plunge Eurozone to record trade deficit. Even if you dislike Brexit be wary of simplistic takes.
