We lost game one 7-0. Tough scoreline for the debut on paper, but it wasn’t as bad as it sounded. We learned a lot and played better the second half.
I don’t embarrass easily, and neither did our team. We had fun. We were definitely the more “likeable” team. I am a little biased there, but proud of us for sticking together and not complaining or getting down.
We’ve get plenty to work on and ample room for improvement. We’ll get another crack against today’s opponent later in the season and it’ll be a competitive game.
We also helped out the future screenwriters there with a nice start for the dramatic narrative arc of our season.
HS soccer coaching update: we got a rematch against the team that beat us 7-0 in the first game. That day we were down 4-0 at HT. Yesterday we were tied 1-1 at halftime! The second half was a little chaotic and we tried to get all out players some time. We lost 6-4.
Really exciting to see so much improvement in only a couple of weeks. We’re 2-2 now and getting better each game. If everything goes according to plan we’ll get one more crack at our rivals in the championship game.
We have sort of an old school #usmnt style. We focus on tight defending (I know some of those score lines beg to differ…) and play our more experienced players in the back. 7 of our 9 goals are off set pieces.
