🚁 What is an eVTOL?
An eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft) is a new generation of aircraft that can take off and land vertically—like a helicopter—but is powered by electric propulsion systems. Designed to be quieter, more efficient, and more sustainable, eVTOLs are considered a key technology enabling Urban Air Mobility (UAM) for transporting people and goods across cities.
However, operating safely in dense urban environments requires highly reliable and resilient navigation systems. This is where the GAUSSIAN Project wants to contribute. Funded by Horizon Europe, GAUSSIAN is developing advanced navigation solutions that integrate Galileo with GNSS/INS technologies, improving positioning accuracy, robustness, and security—essential capabilities for future eVTOL operations in urban skies.

🚁 What is Urban Air Mobility (UAM)?
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) refers to the use of advanced aerial vehicles to transport people and goods within and around cities. The goal is to reduce congestion, shorten travel times, and create a new layer of urban transportation in the air.
However, operating safely in dense urban environments requires extremely reliable and resilient navigation systems.
This is the context where the GAUSSIAN Project wants to contributes. Funded by Horizon Europe, GAUSSIAN is developing an advanced navigation platform that integrates Galileo with GNSS/INS technologies to target improved positioning accuracy, robustness, and security — key elements for enabling safe Urban Air Mobility operations.
Projects like GAUSSIAN show how space technologies are essential to making future aerial mobility possible.

Dissemination of GAUSSIAN Results During “GNSS Under Attack” Course
The results on Spoofing and Jamming tests of the GAUSSIAN project were disseminated by Adrià Rovira Garcia during the course “GNSS Under Attack”, a two-day training initiative dedicated to satellite-based navigation and timing systems. The activity was aimed at providing an overview of key issues affecting these systems, with a specific focus on risks, failures, and safeguards. The course was addressed to technical professionals and policy makers with an interest in GNSS-related topics. It was organised by the Hungarian company Integricom in the framework of an educational programme supported by the European Space Agency (ESA). The two-day format allowed for structured technical sessions and exchanges between lecturers and participants.
Teaching activities were carried out by lecturers from several European academic institutions, including Technische Universität Berlin, Graz University of Technology, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Their contributions formed the core academic content of the course.
Within this context, GAUSSIAN project results were presented as part of the dissemination activities, ensuring visibility of the project outcomes to a specialised audience attending the course.
