Who reads BARTLETT ON THE BEAT in the @brightonargus? This week, I shed light on a pressing matter: the importance of having trained professionals handle #mentalhealth incidents, not police officers. Protecting lives & fighting crime should be our officers' primary focus. Thoughts?
@gbpoliceadvisor @brightonargus Youre right. Bradford had an initiative whereby a mental health nurse accompanied officers to crisis events. Not sure how that's faired with cutbacks . Off to check it out now.
@gbpoliceadvisor @brightonargus I agree. Police aren't qualified to deal with this. Tying up a patrol for hours is unfair on the person, and to people waiting for a police officer to attend their incident. The public generally overestimate the number of patrols available so feel ignored when nobody's free to go
