Unimpressed by the ‘Wellies for Wealth’ rally. These aren’t the people who’ve worked the land for centuries. They’re the ones who stole it, enclosed it, & imposed serfdom. The continuation of that is rich racists Farage and Clarkson (who bragged about buying a farm as a tax 1/

As someone who used to represent a large, rural constituency, married into a farming family, with - shock - farming friends, a few thoughts on these shenanigans today.

So, I've just spent a bit of time looking into the debate on IHT and farming. I... got a shock. First, a note: I have a friend who runs a family farm. In his view, the whole thing is a something and nothing. 🧵

In defence of the police: maligned by the left for anti-black bias and the right for anti-white bias - all while putting their bodies on the line to protect the public. Here’s the truth: the vast majority do a great job in invidious circumstances thetimes.com/article/2aacd6…

@DVLAgovuk received enforcement letter advising road tax payment for new car purchase dishonoured, and balance to be paid immediately. Checked with garage who confirm payment made, and online which confirms car taxed. Letter is v convincing. Keen to confirm if correct or a scam.

Not again! I have NOT given my permission to be used in political adverts. This is NOT an endorsement by me in any way. I maintain strict party neutrality and am unhappy at the weaponizing of my reputation in this way. While this isn't as bad as the first terrible representation – which said it this about tax - there's still a misdirection. As I’ve already stated, in that private conversation I was referring to Labour hoping to make a positive change I’ve been campaigning for, but it didn’t want to lock it in the manifesto as it can’t promise to deliver. NO party’s manifesto tells the full story. ALL parties have things they hope to do but that aren’t in manifestos – as they can’t guarantee to deliver. The idea that Labour is an outlier for that is preposterous.

Labour's manifesto doesn't tell you the full story. 14 hours to stop the Labour supermajority.

WHY I’M VOTING FOR LABOUR 🌹 Like you, my politics and beliefs are born of my own life experiences and how, personally, politics affect me and my family, friends, and wider society. Born and schooled on Teesside in the UK, after a year at university, I felt a vocation to join the Roman Catholic priesthood, became a nightclub bouncer, novice Benedictine monk, and fitters mate in an iron foundry. Unwilling to take unnatural vows of celibacy and blind obedience, I decided not to become priest, and the following day, at 20, my main arm was totally crushed in the hoisting open gears of a massive gantry crane. The Transport and General Workers Union was there to represent me with an employer that tried to wash its hands of me, simply discounting my ‘misfortune’ as another ‘inconvenient’ claim on an insurance policy that had an acceptable workers’ death count number built into it. No private healthcare for me, but there was a superb efficient National Health Service originally created by a Labour Government. When I wanted to return to Liverpool University to finish degrees in French and Communications, the National Union of students helped ease the way back. When I totally lost my sanity (Bipolar Affective Disorder), exactly 10 years after losing my arm, the NHS was there again to help me piece my life together. I became Chair of the Manic Depression Fellowship (now charity Bipolar UK) when Spike Milligan was Patron, and we traveled the country speaking out about mental health which was and remains a taboo subject. Having learned to control the condition I have been well for 22 consecutive years. The invisible stigma associated with losing my sanity is more difficult than losing my right arm. As a new business consultant to the original Saatchi and Saatchi Advertising in the late eighties and a successful businessman in my own right, I built and established a 45-person strong £15M profitable award-winning creative advertising agency in the heart of London’s West End. I called it Hook Advertising Limited after the solid silver hook I sported on my prosthetic arm , but Hook was destroyed by a multinational British High Street bank, eager to profit by secretly selling our company’s major asset (copyright in a name and logo) and subsequently unilaterally removing our banking facilities to shut us up and shut us down. When I lost my right arm in the iron foundry and - completely against the odds - lived to tell the tale, I became utterly fearless although always circumspect. I created the $AF£ organisation (Struggle Against Financial Exploitation), to help small businesses and others under attack from the High Street banks and other financial institutions that, having lost billions in unsecured rash lending around the world, sought to recover their losses and deliver rich dividends to shareholders by going after the personally guaranteed securities of small UK businesses. We taxpayers bailed them out when it happened again. Fully aware of our ownership of the copyright in the discovery process it turned out our bank had secretly insured the buyer for £2M legal costs with which to challenge us if we ever found out. Fortunately, at that time Legal Aid for civil lawsuits was available to me so after a bruising public five-year battle in London’s High Court the case was settled. We were able to pay our patient creditors and I repaid Legal Aid in full. I used powerful legal, honest, decent, and truthful advertising messages and methods to highlight and promote my case throughout. Not everyone can set up and run a business. Capitalism and the dog-eat-dog market economy and world we inhabit with its ‘I’m alright Jack’ selfish doctrine needs to be counterbalanced by people who give a damn about other people and for the preservation and very lives of those who are poorer, weaker and more vulnerable. Now 66, my own life experiences have shown me the need for a well-funded caring social safety net. Hope and pray you never need it.

John Oliver, "The Conservatives have had 5 different prime ministers over the past 14 years.. It's worth briefly revisiting all of them" 1⃣"David Cameron.. Austerity.. Brexit" 2⃣"Theresa May.. More austerity, two child cap" 3⃣"Boris Johnson.. His time in office was a shambles.. Britain left the EU on the same day of the first case of the corona virus was announced.. His handling of covid was an unmitigated disaster" "For the record there is only one actual f*ckpig in Downing Street.. David Cameron.. As a student at Oxford he once put his d*ck in a dead pig's mouth" 4⃣"Liz Truss who had the shortest tenure of any British prime minister in history.. Her budget full of tax cuts for the rich which caused a mini economic crisis" 5⃣"Sunak the wet.. A man who literally does not have the sense to get in from the rain" "Brexit created red tape that has grown exponentially.. Trading goods with the EU is now so onerous that many businesses have chosen to relocate into mainland Europe which is not good news for the UK" "Brexit is estimated to be costing the economy about £100 billion a year" "While Brexit makes the news, austerity is the legacy of Cameron and his successors because it has in so many ways obliterated public services" "Take the NHS, years of under investment have left it gutted and understaffed.. Wait lists for NHS treatment have exploded.. More than 7.5 million waiting for non emergency treatment, that's over 2.5 million when the Conservatives came in in 2010"

There now follows a Party Political Broadcast by the Count Binface Party.

15 minutes to summarise the unmitigated sabotage of this country at the hands of the Tories. Deliberate cruelty. Wilful negligence. Unrelenting greed. Sneering arrogance. Let's annihilate them in the #GeneralElection4thJuly2024
