email [email protected] to request that we (as a city) clear the sidewalks as a public service to maintain the public realm and prioritize pedestrian mobility as much as we prioritize cars
Hearing few school districts contemplating going virtual in January
Please don't
We can keep kids & teachers safe in schools
And if leaders close schools but leave bars open?
Means they care neither about kids nor COVID
Schools should be the last to close, first to open
@cden4@MayorWu@BostonBTD could we please get a trial cycle track connecting Charles/MGH to Charles/Beacon? It's a 3 lane one-way street with two lanes for parking on-street that are often double parked. Connect the heavily biked Somerville-Cambridge bike commuters to Boston
There will be a meeting of the Traffic Board on Dec 1 @ 6pm to vote on protected bike lanes and bus lanes on parts of College Ave.
Please attend and speak in support. Emailed comments can be sent to [email protected] by Dec 1 @ 4pm.

@realBurhanAzeem Highly recommend "The High Cost of Free Parking"
by Donald Shoup. Lots of great insight about parking, land use, and zoning practices.
Finally, rough night for Write-In with less than 7% of the vote. Write-In probably ought to think about that wholesale level of rejection on his drive back to Tewksbury tonight. 5/

The Traffic, Parking, and Transportation Department will host a community meeting on Thursday, October 28, from 6 PM-8 PM to share revised plans for separated bike lanes and transit improvements on Mass Ave from Dudley St to Alewife Brook Parkway - camb.ma/3vFhZ36#CambMA
Councillor @VoteJivan commenting on Cambridge's parking permit fees:
"I don't know the perfect cost, but an MBTA monthly pass is $90/mo or $1080/yr, and we have a $25/yr cost for a permit fee. This is something which doesn't quite line up."
Bit of an understatement!
Let's be explicit: when you say "I know a tragedy occurred here, but we need to think about the residents" you're really saying "this parking space was worth your brother's death".
So, there was no massive crisis of public drunkeness for the 12 months that drinking outdoors was largely permitted and commonplace.
Why not just get rid of the law altogether? Let people drink where they want and carry their drinks home.
Here is a well written piece by @ShabazzStuart on why we should legalize public consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages. The “gray area” of enforcing public drinking must be eliminated as it has led to discriminatory policing in our communities. nyc.streetsblog.org/2020/06/28/op-…
