Now that science has defanged Covid, it’s time to get on with our lives | Devi Sridhar theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@guardianscience @devisridhar In Scotland the release from mitigations is more measured than in England. It will be interesting to see the impact on future infection rates and hospitalizations .
@guardianscience Science still needs to work out the morbidity risks of infection, including Long Covid, and how these risks change with vaccination timing and the use of therapeutics such as antivirals. There are plenty of examples of chronic conditions that are triggered by "mild" infections.

@guardianscience This sounds very Javidy. Has there been some arm-twisting/*help* with the writing?
@guardianscience @devisridhar Just leave this here
@guardianscience @devisridhar You seem to be advocating that 10,000 long-term sick people every day is now somehow OK. I have valued your expertise and insight throughout the pandemic, but today your opinion looks as good as Boris Johnson's. Unfollowed
@guardianscience @devisridhar Excellent as ever. So balanced and reasoned. Devi has been a total guiding light through the whole pandemic. 🙏👏
@guardianscience Some of us aren’t on official shielding list but still very vulnerable according to Covid age assess. Where do we stand? Can’t get my GP to say whether I would get anti viral treatment or not. Meantime, I’m teaching I primary school every day where numbers are rising again. 1/
@guardianscience @devisridhar I’m confused by this article. You can’t just decide to get on with your lives in a pandemic. The govt just crash landed the plane with their announcements regarding the wearing of masks. There isn’t even a global approach from world leaders. This feels political.
