पंडित हरिचंद अख़्तर कहीं मुशायरे में अपनी ग़ज़ल पढ़ रहे थे. सुनने वालों में से एक शख़्स खड़ा हो कर उनके एक मिसरे पर एतराज़ करता हुआ बोला “ अख़्तर साहब, दूसरे मिसरे में अलिफ़ गिर गया है “ “ तो पकड़ कर खड़ा कर दीजिए “ अख़्तर साहब का ये जवाब सुन कर वो शख़्स शर्मिंदा हो कर बैठ गया.
