Champion Mentality vs. Victim Mentality
The best player on a team isn’t always the player who scores the most. Sometimes it’s the player who has a high IQ or a diverse/versatile skill set or a player who is unselfish & coachable or who knows their role inside & out. Basing “good” only on points scored is a big mistake!
PLAYERS: Before you question your playing time, honestly evaluate how you're using your practice time. Make sure that you're bringing energy, enthusiasm, and a team-first mentality to practice. Build good habits in practice. Find ways to be valuable. Make your teammates better.
PLAYERS: You can't always control the minutes you play, but you can always control how you play in the minutes that you do get.
Pro Athletes at the highest level Coachable ✅ Eye Contact ✅ Active Listening ✅ Respect ✅ Humility ✅ Accountable ✅
My son played basketball last year and rode the hell out of the bench. He wasn’t good enough to be out there. He wasn’t mentally tough enough but he was athletic and made the team. I never complained to the coach. Kids have to know you have to work harder and do more to prove yourself. Even if you are talented!
What does being “Coachable” look like? ▪️Eye contact ▪️Nodding when listening ▪️Good body language ▪️Always looking to improve ▪️Seek feedback from coach ▪️Growth mindset ▪️No excuses ▪️Leave ego at the door ▪️Being humble ▪️Accept criticism #CultureWins
PLAYERS: Coaches will play less talented players who PLAY HARD every possession vs more talented players that pick and choose their effort level possession by possession.

Some of the best! 💜
Congratulations to Drs. Jo Ann Burkhardt and Fred Coulter on their retirements. Today we honored them with a retirement reception. They have a combined total of over 41 years of dedication to DC. Their presence will surely be missed, but their retirements were definitely earned!
Bradford is looking to fill some coaching vacancies! Check out the link for more info! applitrack.com/dayton/onlinea…
It’s hard when you’re the athlete who isn’t getting to play. Sitting on the sidelines is no one’s favorite place. But what will you do about it? Complain? Whine? Be angry? Or compete, be focused & determined? One way leads to regret. The other equals reflection, respect & reward!
We are losing student-athletes at an alarming rate & we’re looking at coaches alone to fix it. Believe me, I’d move the earth for my players- but we’re not trained specialist. So when is the NCAA going to mandate that there are sports psychologist in every athletic department?
If you are a licensed therapist with a sports background, Specifically in baseball or softball, please contact me. 🥎If you are a softball player, coach, parent or fan, please retweet this and help me create a list of regional licensed therapists from CA to NC.🥎 🧠💙🥰📝 TIA
Who are the catcher’s parents? Talk about being raised right
There are times when you need to be more concerned about what the team needs from you then what you want for you.
I have literally never felt so lazy in my life. I keep reminding myself that growing a human is hard work.
