🚨 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟: Pro Ref have confirmed an error of judgement in Erling Haaland’s goal and have apologised to Manchester United Football Club:
🗣️ "Following the incident in the 60th minute of Sunday's Premier League fixture between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford, we can provide clarification regarding Erling Haaland’s awarded goal.
The on-field decision was offside against Erling Haaland – that was checked by VAR and he was found to be in an onside position.
In the same attack, it was established that Enzo Fernandez did not play the ball and therefore that makes any offside offence subjective, however, on this occasion, the VAR did not recognise the likely impact of his position and should have recommended an on-field review.
Contact has been made with Manchester United this evening to acknowledge what we deem is an error of judgement. A review of the incident will take place."
Of course on-field officials are fallible.
But errors are so much harder to accept from those in the VAR suite.
To spend two-and-a-half minutes studying Erling Haaland's Manchester derby winner so forensically, and then to incorrectly overturn the on-field decision, is embarrassing and alarming for the Premier League.

🏴🗣️ Anthony Gordon: “The team has lost some excellent players like Rashford, Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski, but the club has also brought in some top-quality players to replace them…
I can say that with complete confidence.”
🚨 On Sunday, Bayern Munich travelled to face Elversberg, who are playing in the Bundesliga for the first time in their history.
Their stadium is currently a construction site and can only hold around 10,000 fans in its current configuration, meaning Bayern’s stars had to get changed in container dressing rooms before discovering a very unusual tunnel on their way out onto the pitch. 😄
Then came the moment that made the story even more remarkable: Elversberg, representing a municipality of only around 13,000 people, equalised against Bayern through former Bayern youngster Maurice Krattenmacher.
For 11 minutes, the tiny club stood level with the German giants before Harry Kane eventually restored Bayern’s lead in a 2-1 victory.
Container dressing rooms, a stadium under construction and Bayern pushed all the way. Modern football can still produce some incredible stories. ❤️
🚨❌ For Rodri, Barça are far from being favourites to win the Champions League:
🗣️ “Within our reach? Yes. I don’t think we are favourites.
You have to understand where we’ve come from and what it takes to become champions.
This team still has several things to fix before it can become one: the red cards, the penalties conceded, not conceding more than necessary…
It’s better to be a little less good going forward but be more consistent and solid!
Players like me have also come here partly for that reason: to grow and bring that dimension to the team which, in my opinion, is important if you want to win trophies as special as the Champions League.
Because I don’t think the Champions League is necessarily a tournament that rewards the best team.
It’s a competition of moments, where you have to know how to understand and manage those moments.
But all of that is also linked to experience. I’ve always said it: before you win, you have to lose and you have to learn. Those of us who have managed to win major trophies know that.
Now, if you ask me whether we have a chance of winning it: that’s exactly why I came here.” 🏆💙❤️
