A fun thing about having a chronic illness is that it can be like, "Hey, I know you've got plans but...no you don't."
I honestly don't know how anyone with my illness makes it work at a traditional job. I am so grateful that I can just say "Please do not schedule anything before 11 AM because I need to poop until then."
@hankgreen The fun thing about my son having long-haul VOVID is that a 20 year old now has flaring body pains and crippling effects of a 70 year old. Some days he can get around with a cane, others are in a wheelchair or laid up in bed. Fun times.
@hankgreen I feel you. Me also. What I hate worse, is the "martyrs" that have the same illness, then say, "Well I can't let it stop me, so I just have to keep working/doing/going." Yeah. It's not like I choose to let my illness stop me. It just has. Mostly, I have zero control over it.
@hankgreen Growing up with chronic IBD and people just saying that I "should just eat better" like that will magically perfectly stop me from pooping blood 🤣
@hankgreen I've been EXTREMELY fortunate with my chronic illness during the pandemic. Masking means I haven't caught a cold in 2 years and colds are one of my biggest triggers. If I do get a flare, with how current cases counts are doing numbers I would have to isolate for 2 weeks. :/
@hankgreen A fun think about having depression is that it can be like “hey I know you’ve got plans but…no you don’t. Also you ruin everyone’s lives and are awful to be around” This tweet will self destruct later
@hankgreen Me every time I'm about to get in the car to drive somewhere, and suddenly my blood sugar drops faster than a leaf in autumn...
@hankgreen A fun thing about chronic pain is that people ask me to make plans and I can’t because, sorry, I’m having pain that day. Oh and the next day too. Sorry I’m booked all week. Yes I do take ibuprofen. Mhmm. I’m working on it. Yeah. Here I’ll give you this info sheet from my doctor
@hankgreen "Hey buddy, looks like you're about to go to sleep and wake up early, but, what if your blood sugar dropped to 50mg/dl for the next three hours :)"
