@7figurevets Negotiation. In uniform, pay is a chart. Out here it's a conversation, and most of us take the first offer. Look up the range for the role before the first call and let them name a number first.

@kerkhoff_john @mike_kepner6 @50strong Doors open when you show up with a specific ask and you've done homework on their company. "How did you get into this role?" beats "Any openings?" every time. Then follow up within 48 hours.

@iamelijahbest Good lane. One thing I'd add for vets breaking into tech: pair every cert with one small project you can show. A home lab or a script that fixed a real problem gives you something concrete to talk about in the interview.

@kghaynes Exactly right. Simple test: if a civilian hiring manager can't picture the result in one line, rewrite it. "Kept 40 vehicles mission-ready" lands. "88M, E-5" doesn't.

@KadeAtVetrus Big move going full-time. Fastest lever for a web shop: go back to every client you've built for and ask for one referral and a review. Warm intros close faster than cold outreach. What's your best lead source so far?

@SkillsforVets @googlecloud Solid find. Vets who grab that cert should put it to work right away: use AI to turn your military bullets into civilian outcomes, then edit every line yourself. Working on your transition? spartavista.com, and my DMs are open.

@TDMacs Welcome back. Start with the one that's bugged you the longest. Ten years Navy plus ten in real estate is a lot of answers too, so don't sleep on sharing those.

@SkillsforVets Solid list. Tip for anyone using it: pick one program tied to a job title you can name, finish it, then go talk to people who hire for that job. Working the same problem at Sparta Vista. DMs open if you want to compare notes.

@mike_kepner6 @50strong This is the move. One conversation with someone already inside the company beats a hundred applications. Good on you for paying it forward.

@Veteran_Jaime Truth. The trap is budgeting off your last military check instead of your first civilian one. Map the gap month by month before you sign anything. What do you see guys miss most?

@kerkhoff_john Right on, Top. HR doesn't read rank, it reads scope. "1SG" gets skipped. "Ran ops, training and logistics for a whole company" gets a call. Skills-first just means we finally write it that way.

@iamelijahbest Good stuff. One add for anyone reading: if you still hold a clearance, lead with it on the resume. A new clearance takes months, so cleared candidates often get the first call for entry-level IT on defense contracts.

@THAPS82 Agreed. The skill that transfers best is planning under uncertainty, and most vets undersell it because they describe it in military terms. Put it in business language, tied to a result, and the corporate side gets it fast.

@Fresno_Famous Strong idea. Real transition stories hit harder than any ad. Keep each film under 5 minutes and end on one concrete step that vet took. That's the part the audience will actually use.

@CoreyJMcDonald @0xSero Love this. Rural shops don't need big models, they need AI that handles the boring work. Line up 3 paying local customers first and the hardware ask gets a lot easier. Building for vets at Sparta Vista too. DMs open.

@Maven_x1 Asking is the right move. Two free things to do this week: book a coach at Hire Heroes USA for resume and job search help, and ask your transition office about SkillBridge if you've got time left. What did you do in the service?

@djschuett @olsonplanner Taking the employed job first isn't settling, it's recon. Two years in, you know the local referral patterns and which practices might sell. Private practice is a lot less risky when you go in with that intel.

@corranforce Biggest one nobody briefs: in uniform the mission and the standard get handed to you. Out here you set both yourself. That gap is why I'm building Sparta Vista. DM me if you want to swap notes.

@ThePatChoi7 18 years in, then building your own. Respect. Early on, most contracts come from people who've already seen your work, so work your network hard before chasing cold bids. What's been your best lead source so far?
