i only realized in the past week that my touchstone memories growing up were often related to violence and murder. columbine, 9/11, a boy in school who threatened to put a gun in my face. growing up in 21st century USA has been a slow burn of psychological trauma.

i know i have a fraught personal history/beef w the olive garden which might cloud my judgment on other dishes of theirs, but this much is clear - the breadsticks really ain't all that. as far as free bread goes they're like a 4/10.

another thing to consider - digital app #VaccinePassports are EXPENSIVE to create and maintain! why would that be anyone's FIRST choice over simply issuing a plastic id card? imo it's gotta be either embezzlement, authoritarianism, or just plain incompetence #NoVaccinePassports

if you were "anti fascism" the last four years then you need to be anti #VaccinePassports now. even if you think anti-vaxxers "deserve" exclusion. we still have to think critically about what we allow/normalize and how it can enable and empower authoritarianism. full stop.

i am PRO vaccine, ANTI #VaccinePassports - i will boycott businesses requiring it, even after i manage to get the vax. do not give an inch to authoritarianism. better to refuse it now, than try to excise it after it takes root

perfect hashtag this is why i made an account. #VaccinePassports exploit the avg person's tech unfamiliarity and involves data where it has no reason to be. i'll ask again - why an app/digital checkpoints NOW when we didn't even go that extreme DURING the pandemic? i reject it.

PROPOSAL: NO vaccine passport. YES vaccine id. issue a plastic card just like a driver's license, with name, vax status, date of vax, whatever. harder to falsify, NO mag strip, NO qr code. there is no reason to involve data in this - we don't check a db to sell people wine.

a vax passport is not a "mark of the beast." it is just more of the same shrinking of human privacy that has crept into our lives in the past three decades. not as sexy of a descriptor... still pretty bad though

what would you have said to a vaccine passport proposed by the former administration? what would have happened to our activists if they could not even buy essentials without passing through a digital checkpoint? do you think last year's protests would have happened at all?
