I also attended five conferences in 2023, #Evol2023, #JMIH2023, #IPFC2023, and regional meetings in SoCal and Washington. In total, I gave 10 talks with an 11th planned for #SICB2024 in a few weeks #anglerfishtour

@servedio1 's ASN Presidential Address from #Evol2023 is now available for viewing ("Pitfalls of #generalizations Lessons learned in #speciation research"), along with the presenting of ASN Awards! youtu.be/wLD5wDn3lgE
See the ASN Early Career Investigators 2023 Presentations at #Evol2023 by Thomas Scott, @jmkreinz, and Heng Huang! youtube.com/watch?v=zmhORS… (@WildlifeMcCoy also won the Early Career Investigator award; she gave another talk the same day...)

Stevison Lab hiring a new postdoc! Several projects available related to evolgen & speciation in fruit flies. NIH funded for 4+ years! I'll be at the #GRC #Evolution #Genomics next week to discuss Ad: aub.ie/stevison_postd… Lab: sites.google.com/site/lstevison #SMBE2023 #evol2023
You can check out a pre-recorded version of my #Evol2023 talk on the Evolution Meetings YouTube channel. Based on work with Francisco Ubeda and led by @GeorgeShillco youtu.be/KMJ6aUqAVp4
Two weeks since #evol2023, too early for a throwback? Awesome NM luncheon w/ a gaggle of folks discussing evolutionary career paths. Thanks to @landismj for organizing! @andy_muan @e_glynne Aidan Lakshman (not on this bird app), @Justin_Baez, and lots of chile rellenos
Using a new temporal framework featured at #Evol2023 based on Markov models we dissect the relative contribution of each pathway. We show that elevational displacement primarily explains the elevational turnover of species in sympatry.
Grateful for the opportunity to present my talk on computational phylogenetics at the #Evol2023 conference in Albuquerque, NM. Thank you to @Dereneaton and @PatrickMcKen_Z for all their support at @E3BColumbia. Heard wonderful presentations on evolutionary biology.
I'm stoked to share our recent work and topic of my #Evol2023 talk as a preprint! 📃 That Pokémon was from the monotypic lizard family, Shinisauridae! 🦎 && We found their sex chromosomes and (likely) their primary sex determiner!! 🧬 It's pretty neat so go check it out! ☺️

If you're having trouble getting over the post-conference blues (say, post-#evol2023), I strongly recommend having a toddler. 🐥
Getting home from #Evol2023 take 5, leg 1: driving to Denver
I was inspired by the big genomics at #Evol2023 to make a tool to help bioinformaticians explore huge data. This tool is fast, computationally light and requires no true installation steps. It takes fastq.gz inputs and estimates a genetic distance matrix. github.com/avanwallendael…
Just FYI: @jakeberv has relocated to Albuquerque and will provide his new contact information soon... (just kidding, but yes, he's still there from the Evolution meeting). #Evol2023
I seriously need to credit #Evol2023 for re-inspiring me and motivating me to get back on the thesis grind. Thank you to everyone I met and had a conversation with- y’all are some of the most accepting, kind, and intelligent people I’ve ever met! 🧬🧑🔬
Finally managed to get @arvidagren to sign my copy of gene's-eye view of evolution at #Evol2023. Thanks, Arvid!
